The Epigenetic Clock Development Foundation (“Clock Foundation”) is a UCLA spin-out and non-profit that aims to accelerate the availability of treatments that target the biology of aging.  We are focused especially on the use of epigenetic aging clocks and clinical trials to enable enable rapid and rigorous testing of new treatments.

In our first 3 years, we have conducted over 300 DNA methylation and epigenetic clock studies, where we enable researchers to routinely submit DNA and tissue samples for processing, and we enable standardized epigenetic clock analysis. These projects have been performed in collaboration with a diverse array of industry and academic researchers, and through this work we've developed efficient processes for study design and conduct, and for rigorous data analysis.

We are now making these same tools and processes available for individuals and physicians, as part of this site, to help them conduct studies of their own, including n-of-1 trials of new longevity treatments.  Epigenetic aging clocks are strong indicators of biological age, the reversal of which promises to lower the risk of multiple chronic diseases, preserve the immune system, and lead to functional benefits for older individuals.  Both human studies and preclinical studies indicate that epigenetic clocks are a promising surrogate endpoint for anti-aging clinical trials.  That said, in our trials we use epigenetic clocks in concert with many other established biomarkers of aging, including functional measures (tracking cognitive & physical fitness improvements), markers of immunosenescence, MR imaging of the brain, and more.  For details of our test offerings for individuals, physicians, and for clinical trials, visit: www.clockfoundation.org/get-started

In the years ahead, we aim to make epigenetic clock testing more widely available, carry out more mechanistic studies on aging, and develop increasingly powerful biomarkers for predicting future healthspan and lifespan.  We intend to assist with dozens of new clinical studies on the most promising anti-aging and longevity treatments, and for this work to culminate in the eventual approval of these treatments for use as preventative medicine.
